Whats the price for a Human Right?

If you ask the Copyright industry, its worth over 30.000 times as much as the actual record-sales worldwide (more then Europes and North Americas total GNP (Gross National Product)), but in the digital age, the cost is closer to zero than ever before in history.

I say it shouldn't be up for sale at all.

What are we talking about?

Its the commercial copyright.

Copyright is mentioned in the UN's universal declaration of Human Rights in article 27:b

  • (2) Everyone has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author.

Here's the issue i'm having.

Copyrights can be bought, and is often so in the record industry.

But read closer.

2) Everyone has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production
of which he is the author.

Now we have, in Europe, a bundle of laws lobbyd from the Copyright industries that is on collision-corse with a number of other human rights, such as:

Article 27:a
(1) Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.

Article 11.

(1) Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence.
Article 19.
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

This due to the new copyright infringement laws that is written in the IPRED-law, the french HADOPI 1 and 2 and LOOPSI, probably in the ACTA-agreement (since its highly top secret, unless your a copyright-lobbyist) and will probably be put into the Stockholm-program.

Follow my thoughts please.

If the non-profit part of copyright co-exists with minor stuff like free speech, the principle regarding innocent until proven guilty, but not the commercial part of the copyright.

What should be taken away from the list of human rights?

Free speech, innocent until proven guilty or the commercial copyright?

think about it....

And make your mark on the global action-day "Freedom not Fear" September 12.
we are in these countries.

In Sweden its the "Black Monday-network" that organizes it.
